Meredith and Jenn are the type of people you could sit down, for what feels like minutes, only to realize hours have passed.

Meredith spent sixteen years at the San Francisco Chronicle, where her narrative reporting won the PEN USA Literary Award for Journalism and was short-listed for the Pulitzer Prize. She is the author of The Honey Bus, just one of various memoirs she has written.

Her wife Jenn is recently retired after serving twenty-five years in law enforcement as a lieutenant with the San Francisco Police Department. She now spends her time as a bird photographer and illustrator.

Together they live in the Monterey Bay Area where they spend time beekeeping, volunteering at both the Monterey Bay Aquarium (Meredith is a diver!) and the SPCA (Jenn cares for horses, pigs and goats). In their down time, they enjoy spending time with their golden retriever “Edie”.

They can now add “Scout”, a sandstone-colored Boho van, to their unique list of life experiences.

Scout’s finishes were chosen by Meredith and Jenn and merge beautifully with their open floor plan. These include a sea foam green kitchen backsplash, slate vinyl upholstery, khaki window covers and flooring that pops with both brown and grey tones.

Their camper van has no shortage of upgrades including a lithium ion battery bank, built-in two-burner stove, a 12’ Fiamma roof awning and an additional roof fan for extra air flow.

They’ve now owned Scout for two months and it’s certainly “love”.

The last follow up, Meredith stated, “We love it so much we have our evening cocktail in it in the driveway, and sometimes we sleep in it instead of the house!”

Part of Meredith and Jenn’s travel plans includes advocating to “save the bees”, as a lack of awareness combined with environmental factors are decimating their populations.

Care to join the cause? The couple’s best advice is to plant native wild flowers.

“Don’t just plant them in obvious places like your own yard,” Meredith says. “Go out into nature and throw them around, even in the medians or the side of the road.”
